Plastic Surgeons Warn Against Experimental Penile Enlargement

The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery has 2300 members and is the only society dedicated solely to cosmetic surgery. Across the world, other doctors look to the Society as the most authoritative source when they want to learn about cosmetic surgery.

In the United States, its members are certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. In Canada, the Royal college of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certifies them.

Members of the Society perform cosmetic surgery, that is, operations that need not be necessary for health, nor reconstructions after an accident, but simply to make a patient look better. So, if there would be one group of physicians with a vested interest in penile enlargement surgery, this would be it.

Instead, they issued a press release about experimental penile enlargement, which you can read on their official website.

In that press release, the doctors say that penile enlargement using the injection of fat cells is “considered an experimental high_risk procedure.” The procedure involves sucking fat cells from the abdomen or elsewhere on your body and injecting them into your penis. The Society press release goes oon to say that there is not enough data to determine whether the procedure is either safe or effective.

They warn that you could have complications, including bleeding, infection, and a misshapen penis due to this procedure. They affirm that the results of this procedure are temporary, since most of the fat will be absorbed by your body within a few months.

They urge men who want this surgery should be sure their doctor warns them about all the possible risks. They should also verify the surgeon’s credentials to be sure the training and certification are appropriate. And, the Society says, seek a second opinion.
